Dawson Creek Forest District staff actively solicited public input on the Timber Supply Review in the Dawson Creek Timber Supply Area through the following actions:
copies of the four documents were mailed to 15 individuals, interest groups, municipal councils and the regional district. The Discussion Paper included a response form, which readers were encouraged to complete and return to the district manager.
informal briefings were conducted with representatives of the forest industry and of each of the three First Nations in the timber supply area (see Table 1). Staff also offered to make special presentations to First Nations communities
four open houses were advertised extensively through local radio and newspapers
a briefing was held with local media
As Table 1 shows, 32 individuals attended the information sessions and the open houses. The Dawson Creek Forest District also received one completed response form and five written submissions (see Appendix 1).
