Eight per cent of respondents support an increase, offering the following reasons:
it is important to retain well-paid forestry jobs and keep the unemployment level down in order to maintain a healthy economy, particularly in the smaller Okanagan communities
elevating the harvest level to salvage forests attacked by mountain pine beetle will reduce the mountain pine beetle problem and remove other insect-infested trees
improved silviculture will help maintain the present level of harvest and perhaps increased levels of harvest
