Eight per cent of respondents support an increase, offering the following reasons:
• it is important to retain well-paid forestry jobs and keep the unemployment level down in order to maintain a healthy economy, particularly in the smaller Okanagan communities
• elevating the harvest level to salvage forests attacked by mountain pine beetle will reduce the mountain pine beetle problem and remove other insect-infested trees
• improved silviculture will help maintain the present level of harvest and perhaps increased levels of harvest
