The Kootenay Lake Forestry Association questioned statements in the Socio-Economic Assessment and the Public Discussion Paper indicating the impacts of an allowable annual cut reduction may be less severe than in other areas because historical harvest levels have been considerably lower than the allowable annual cut. The Association indicated that public sources of timber will become increasingly important in the future as alternative supplies, primarily from private land, diminish.
