The Forest Act requires the chief forester to consider the following factors to determine the allowable annual cut for timber supply areas and tree farm licence areas:
the rate of timber production that can be sustained from the area
the short- and long-term implications for the province of alternative rates of timber harvesting from the area
the timber requirements of established and proposed timber processing facilities
the economic and social objectives of the Crown, as expressed by the minister, for the area, the general region, and the province
abnormal pest infestations in the timber on the area and major salvage programs that are planned
The technical reports that have been prepared for the Timber Supply Review of the Sunshine Coast Timber Supply Area provide information on these factors. We welcome further input from the public to ensure the best available information is used in the allowable annual cut determination. Please provide your comments on this form, or in another format by January 10, 1996.
