It is estimated that harvesting and processing the average annual harvest from the Arrowsmith Timber Supply Area generates an additional 197 person-years of direct forestry employment and 614 person-years of spin-off employment outside of southern Vancouver Island. Provincially, on average approximately 1,400 person-years of employment are supported annually by wood harvested from the Arrowsmith Timber Supply Area. (SEA page 46)
Approximately $23.0 million in provincial government revenues are generated annually by timber harvesting in the Arrowsmith Timber Supply Area. This figure is based on fees of $15.2 million for harvesting public timber in the area, estimated personal income taxes of $4.5 million, plus other tax revenues of $3.3 million. These estimates are based on 1994 data and increased stumpage revenues being generated to fund the Forest Renewal Plan. (SEA page 46)
