The development of Land and Resource Management Plans is currently underway in each of the three forest districts in the Prince George Timber Supply Area. Three Working Groups, consisting of local citizens, stakeholders and government agencies, and representing various resource interests and community perspectives, were formed in 1992/93. Each Working Group is developing recommendations on new resource management objectives and strategies that balance social, economic and environmental values. Areas proposed for protection under the Protected Areas Strategy may become part of the new land use designations that will be recommended by Land and Resource Management Plan Working Groups. Once these recommendations are approved by government, current forest management practices will be revised so they are consistent with these objectives.
