Maintaining scenic landscapes is a management priority. Road construction and harvesting are planned and implemented to maintain visual integrity.
Recent studies have shown that, following harvesting, regenerated trees which are five metres tall create acceptable viewscapes. Based on this information, no more than 13 per cent of the high visual quality zone and 34 per cent of the lower visual quality zone are permitted to be forested with trees less than five metres tall (estimated to be at 20 years old) at any time.
