Harvesting and processing timber from the Lillooet Timber Supply Area plus forestry sector spending is estimated to create a total of 2,462 person-years of employment provincially (including employment within the timber supply area). (SEA page 37)
Approximately $20.6 million in provincial revenues is generated annually by timber harvesting in the Lillooet Timber Supply Area. This figure is based on the 1994 average total fees for harvesting public timber in the area ($15.71 per cubic metre), plus personal income taxes and other tax revenues such as sales tax and corporate income tax. (SEA page 39) These estimates include the increased stumpage revenues being generated to fund the Forest Renewal Plan.
