Provincial impacts


If the chief forester adjusted the Cranbrook Timber Supply Area allowable annual cut to conform to the base case forecast, the initial 10 per cent reduction may result in a total reduction of 223 person-years of employment provincially. (SEA page 67)

If the allowable annual cut was reduced by 10 per cent and current taxation procedures were maintained, annual provincial government revenues are projected to decline by $1.9 million (SEA page 70). As stated earlier, these estimates do not include the increased stumpage revenue being generated to fund the Forest Renewal Plan.
