Description of the Cranbrook Timber Supply Area

The Cranbrook Timber Supply Area covers approximately 1.48 million hectares in the southeastern corner of British Columbia. Its varied topography includes two rugged mountain ranges (the Rocky Mountains and the Purcell Mountains) separated by a broad, flat valley known as the Rocky Mountain Trench, through which the Kootenay River flows.
