On the provincial level (which includes the timber supply area), the current harvest level is estimated to support a total of 167 person-years of employment and contribute $4 million in employment income (SEA page v).
In addition, the harvest contributes $2.4 million to the provincial government in stumpage and personal income and corporate taxes (SEA page v). These estimates were developed before the new Forest Renewal Plan was announced and do not include the increased stumpage revenues that will be generated through this plan. While stumpage revenues are expected to increase by as much as 80 per cent, it will not be possible to accurately estimate the impact of this change until the new policy has been in place for a period of time.
