Soo Timber
Supply Area (TSA) |

The Soo TSA lies within the
Coast Region of the Ministry of Forests, Lands and Natural
Resource Operations (FLNR) and is administered by the
Metro–Vancouver Squamish District in
Squamish.
The Soo TSA is bounded on the west by Tree Farm Licence (TFL) 38 and
the Sunshine Coast TSA; on the north by the Lillooet TSA; and on the
south and east by the Fraser TSA. The communities of Lions Bay, Squamish, Whistler,
and Pemberton, as well as many smaller communities are located in
this TSA.
Current Timber Supply Review (TSR)
The current allowable annual cut (AAC) for the Soo
TSA is 480,000 cubic metres, effective May 12, 2011. This AAC will remain in effect until a new AAC is determined, which must
take place within 10 years of this determination, unless postponed in
accordance with Section 8(3.1) of the
Forest Act.

Section 8 (3.1) Postponement Order
The
Forest Act —
Section 8(3.1) permits the chief forester to
consider a postponement of the allowable annual cut to a date that is up to 10
years after the last determination, if the chief forester determines that the AAC
is not likely to be changed significantly with a new determination.
