Kootenay Lake Timber
Supply Area (TSA) |

The Kootenay Lake TSA is located in south–eastern British Columbia
and covers approximately 1.2 million hectares of the
Southern Interior Region.
It is bounded by Glacier National Park to the north, the U.S.A. to the
south, and the Purcell and Selkirk mountains to the east and west
respectively.
The major population centres in the Kootenay Lake TSA are Creston, Kaslo, and Nelson.
The Kootenay Lake timber supply area is administered by the
Selkirk District (Kootenay
Lake District) office located just north of Nelson.
Current Timber Supply Review (TSR)
The current allowable annual cut (AAC) for the Kootenay Lake TSA is
640,000 cubic metres per year, effective August 12, 2010.
This AAC
will remain in effect until a new AAC is determined, which must take
place within 10 years of this determination, unless postponed in
accordance with Section 8(3.1) of the
Forest Act.
