Bulkley Timber Supply Area (TSA)

The Bulkley TSA, located in the eastern drainage of the Skeena River in the Northern Region, covers approximately 736,000 hectares. The TSA includes the communities of Smithers, Telkwa, Moricetown and Fort Babine. The current allowable annual cut for the Bulkley TSA is 882,000 cubic metres.

The Bulkley timber supply area is administered by the Skeena Stikine District.

 In August 2007, the chief forester postponed the date for the next AAC determination until 2011.

Current Timber Supply Review (TSR)

Public input is a vital part of the timber supply review process.  A data package was released on March 25, 2011.  Feedback is welcome on any issues related to the timber supply review for the Bulkley TSA.

Section 8 (3.1) Postponement Order

The Forest Act — Section 8 (3.1) permits the chief forester to consider a postponement of the allowable annual cut to a date that is up to 10 years after the last determination, if the chief forester determines that the AAC is not likely to be changed significantly with a new determination.
