SPAR
Enhancements released from March 2005 to May 2006
New
Functionality
- Application
for Seedlot Registration
Seed orchard managers and cone collectors
can now register seedlots online.
The requirements for seedlot registration
in the Chief Forester’s Standards
for Seed Use are all included in
the online seedlot registration
screen. The screen layout differs
for a collection from a natural
stand (Class B, B+) and collection
from a seed orchard (Class A).
- Seedlot Registration Parent Tree*
Contribution screen
Collections from a seed orchard
require entry of the cone and pollen
counts for all the parent trees
contributing to the seedlot. The
Genetic Worth for the trait of G
is calculated for the seedlot from
the Breeding Values of the contributing
parent trees.
- Parent Tree Registration
Parent trees are now entered and
registered in SPAR. There are 5
new screens where data is entered
by Research Branch Forests Genetics
staff or Tree Improvement Branch
staff
Parent Tree Maintenance, Parent
Tree Area of Use, Parent Tree Test
and Parent Tree Genetic Quality.
Seed orchard staff can now enter
the list of parent trees in their
orchard on the Parent Tree Orchard
screen.
- Parent Tree Detail screens
Information on individual Parent
Trees can be viewed on 4 new screens
Parent Tree Detail, Parent Tree
Orchard, Parent Tree Area of Use
and Parent Tree Genetic Quality.
- Parent Tree Search
Search parameters are entered to
list the Parent Trees in the database.
- Parent Tree data extract in xml
format
Intended for SPAR users with MS
Access, the extract submission provides
Parent Tree data directly from the
Oracle database in an xml format.
- Nursery Grams Adjustment screen
Nurseries can now lists several
seedling requests on one screen
and reduce the grams of seed for
any requests assigned to their nursery.
- Provenance data added for Superior
Provenance lots
For B+ seedlots, a data attribute
was added for Provenance, which
takes the place of the Location
attribute. Seedlots can now be listed
or reported by Provenance.
- Seedlot status of EXP (expired)
When a seedlot balance is zero and
all requests are completed, seedlot
status will automatically change
to EXP. The system no longer determines
active or expired status every time
a query is made.
- Latest Sowing Date maintenance
When a nursery makes a new entry
in the Latest Sowing Date table,
existing seedling requests for the
same species / stock type / stock
age will be updated with the new
sowing date.
- Seedlot Audit tables
When seedlot or vegetative lot registration,
Genetic Worth, Area of Use (seed
planning zones, elevation range,
latitude/longitude range) data changes,
the previous records are now stored
in tables. Click
here for more information
