SPAR Enhancements released in February 2007 SPAR logo

SPAR is now spatially enabled! Links to SeedMap on various SPAR screens will open SeedMap in a new browser window. Warning: there are still some problems with the map layers and scale that is displayed when the SeedMap window is opened. These will be resolved in a future release.

New Spatial Functionality

• Seedlot Detail and Vegetative Lot Detail screens:
The SeedMap link will show source location of a Class B or B+ lot with the Seed Planning Zone Natural Stand layer and the BEC zone/subzone layer. The SeedMap link in the Area of Use section in a future release will show the appropriate seed planning zones and scale.
• Seedlot Registration:
For Class B and B+ lots, the latitude, longitude, SPZ and BEC information will be verified spatially.
• Suitable Seedlot/Vegetative Lot Search and Seedling Request:
The “Default SPZs” link will use the latitude and longitude coordinates entered to determine the appropriate seed planning zones and default them in SPZ A and SPZ B fields. The SeedMap link will open SeedMap with the BEC zone/subzone layer and elevation contours.
• On Seedling Request, if a user wants to enter SPZ A, SPZ B or BGC data that does not match the spatial data, an override comment must be entered.

Reports – New and Improved

• Parent Tree Short Form Report:
The report is now available in MS Word .doc and MS Excel .xls formats.
• Parent Tree Extract:
The Extract now available in MS Excel format with a .csv file extension. The extract must be sent to a user’s email address. There will be four emails delivered, one for each parent tree table from the database.
