Engineering Equipment and Services (EES) Directory
Self-registration Instructions to Equipment Suppliers
All equipment suppliers who wish to have their equipment considered for hire by the Ministry of Forests and Range, for engineering activities within Operations Division, Revenue and Tenures Division, or BC Timber Sales, must be registered in the ministry’s provincial Engineering Equipment and Services (EES) directory.
The EES directory will serve the ministry as a select list of equipment eligible for hire on smaller sized engineering projects. Projects of a larger size or scope will be tendered with advertisements on BC Bid.
While the Equipment Rental Rate Guide (Blue Book) continues to serve as a guide for determining hourly rates, ministry policy requires rates to be established based on having a competitive nature and reflecting market value.
Note: All machines listed for rental purposes must be owned or on a lease-to-purchase agreement to the registrant. A machine can only be registered once in EES and any repeat entries of a machine may result in the machine being removed from EES. Firms or individuals may be requested to provide proof of ownership to the ministry representative prior to being hired.
Please check "Yes" or "No" in the appropriate box of the web registration screen to indicate whether you want a list of your applicable forest fire fighting equipment made available to the Protection Branch of Ministry of Forests. If you do not indicate your preference, information will not be provided to Protection Branch.
Please note that several of the equipment types were changed in 2005. Any pieces of equipment that are highlighted in yellow in the EES directory need the equipment type updated. The most common change is to Crawler Tractors and Excavators, where the categories have been replaced by new ones that differentiate by size. To update the equipment type, click on the "Details" on the right of the piece of equipment, and pick a new type from the drop-down list. Make sure you click on the ‘Save" button at the bottom of the screen when you’ve finished updating the record.
Equipment suppliers must make sure that their registration information in the EES directory is current and accurate. Equipment suppliers must provide annual re-confirmation of data. Failure to update registration information annually will result in an equipment supplier's listing becoming inactive. A system generated annual reminder will be sent if the equipment supplier provides an e-mail address in the appropriate data field.
Note that local ministry offices will select and hire equipment on as-needed basis, with registration not a guarantee of work.
