Forest ecologist John Parminter receives Distinguished Forester Award

The Research Branch is pleased to announce that one of our staff, John Parminter, received the Distinguished Forester Award at the president's awards banquet during the 54th Annual Meeting of the Association of B.C. Professional Foresters in Nanaimo on February 28, 2002. This award is the profession's highest honour, and was given to John in recognition of his outstanding commitment to the forestry profession throughout his career, and his achievements in fire ecology, inventory, forest ecology and forest history.

Congratulations, John, on receiving this award. We are all very proud of you and delighted that the ABCPF has recognized one of its "unsung heroes" -- someone with strong convictions, but an unassuming nature, who is dedicated to resource stewardship, to the province's forest heritage, and to the public service, as well as being a good friend and colleague to many of us.

The ABCPF's press release is available for your information.
