Ponderosa Pine Spacing Trials (EP 607)

Objectives

To determine the effects of initial planting density on the growth and development of ponderosa pine.

Treatments

EP607 installation 1 (click to enlarge)One replicate containing each of five square spacings (1.22, 2.44, 3.66, 4.88, and 6.10 m) was established at each of the three sites.  These inter-tree distances correspond to 1682, 747, 420, and 269 stems per hectare, respectively.  All of the square treatment plots are 0.04 ha in size, except for the lowest density plots (269 sph), which are 0.16 ha.

These field installations are re-measured at 5-year intervals.
