System Requirements
Hardware
Before installing SiteTools, please ensure that your computer meets the
following minimum hardware requirements:
- a Pentium-class PC
- a minimum of 8 MB of random access memory (RAM)
- 4 MB of free disk space on your hard drive, and 3 MB more if you
have downloaded the self-extracting installation file
SiteTools prints to the default Windows printer. Use the Setup option

Version History
A summary of the main SiteTools revisions and updates is listed below.
1985-1989
A DOS program called GRAFLEX was develop to plot site index curves,
growth and yield data, and to generate tables.
1990
A DOS program called "Freddie" was developed by Ken Polsson
of the Research Branch. It was primarily used to produce site index tables
in several forms for convenient use, and also to calculate site index for
large data files containing height and age in batch mode.
1991
The Ministry designated a recommended site index and height growth
curve for each species.
1990-1993
A dynamic link library file called Sindex.DLL was developed and commonly
used to calculate site index and height growth by other growth and yield
applications, eg. TASS, TIPSY, VDYP, FAN$Y, and Stand Sample Compiler.
1995
Research Branch began the development of a Microsoft Windows version
to parallel the MS-DOS version of Freddie.
1996
Freddie was renamed to SiteTools 3.0 for DOS.
1998
SiteTools 3.1 for Windows was first released, and SiteTools 3.1 for
DOS was last updated.

Ministry of Forests Use Policy for SiteTools
The Research Branch of the Ministry of Forests developed and maintains
SiteTools. The Province of British Columbia has the copyright. SiteTools
is distributed free of charge at the discretion of the Ministry. SiteTools
contains the default site index curves used by the B.C. Ministry of
Forests in timber supply analysis.
SiteTools includes the file Sindex.DLL that contains all the code for
handling site index and height growth equations. This DLL file is used
other Ministry growth and yield applications, eg. TASS,
TIPSY, VDYP,
FAN$Y, and Stand Sample Compiler.
