This trial was established in 1952/53 in a predominately even-aged lodgepole pine stand, that regenerated naturally after a fire in 1895, on a MSdk/01(05) site, northeast of Canal Flats in the Invermere Forest District. Two replicates of six levels of thinning were tested. The twelve permanent sample plots have been remeasured on roughly a five-year schedule for the life of the study. ...

To determine the response to spacing of older western larch trees. This trial was established in 1958 in a fire-origin, 31-year-old, mixed stand of western larch, Douglas-fir and lodgepole pine, on an IDFdm2 site northwest of Cranbrook in the Cranbrook Forest District. In this single-tree experiment, 120 larch trees were selected, with 20 trees in each of six diameter classes. Four crop-tree thinning treatments (clearance of all competing vegetation to radii of 2.4, 3.6 and 4.8 m around each tree, and no clearing) were randomly assigned to five trees in each diameter class. The trees have been remeasured on roughly a five-year schedule for the life of the trial. ...

This experiment was established in 1957 in a mid-seral, fire-origin stand, on an ICHmw2/04 site, northwest of Nakusp in the Arrow Forest District. Four treatments were tested including: an improvement cut, a diameter-limit cut, a salvage cut, and an untreated control. Each treatment was replicated five times using a randomized complete-block design. The permanent sample plots have been measured every five years over the life of the experiment. ...
