Installation Return to top of page

These models are individually downloaded as self-extracting (.EXE) zip files.  We recommend that you download each model (file) into separate, empty directory(s) on your hard drive.  If you are unable to download STIM, request a diskette copy from Shelley Grout.

If you have Windows 3.1: you must first self-extract the single file which recreates the same list of files that are distributed on diskette.  To self-extract this file, execute it by either double-clicking on it in the Windows File Manager, or select File, then Run, from the Program Manager Menu (then use Browse to locate the file).   From among these files locate and execute in the same fashion the file called SETUP.EXE.  This will complete the installation process and you will then have a new program group entitled WINSTIM (for western hemlock) or WINSTIMA (for trembling aspen).

If you have Windows 95 or NT: follow the Windows 3.1 instruction above, except to execute files either double-click on them in Windows Explorer (or another "file manager"), or select Run from the Start Menu (then use Browse to locate the file).

Network Installation: Neither program supports network installation.  They must be installed as stand-alone PC applications.
