Site History:

The cutblock was clearcut and ground logged in the winter of 1981 (Evans Forest Products CP 41 Blk 12), broadcast burned in the spring of 1983 and planted with Picea engelmannii (Engelmann spruce (Se)) 2+0 bareroot seedlings (seedlot 2618) in the spring of 1984 (May 25-27). The spruce had been overtopped by a mixed shrub vegetation complex composed mainly of Rubus parviflorus (thimbleberry), Rubus idaeus (raspberry) and Epilobium angustifolium (fireweed). The site was replanted in the spring of 1986 (June) with Se 1+0 PSB 313 seedlings (seedlot 10202) due to poor survival of the 1984 planting.

Site Vegetation Description:

Forest cover was classified as predominantly an old growth mixed stand of Picea glauca x engelmannii and Thuja plicata (forest cover label SC-941-G) with some areas of Abies lasiocarpa as a secondary component (forest cover label SB-(C)-831-M (south-west corner)). Forest cover height class was given as 4 (28.5 to 37.4 m) for the spruce-cedar and a 3 (19.4 to 28.4 m) for the spruce-balsam areas.
