Analysis of Livestock Use of Riparian Areas: Literature Review and Research Needs Assessment for British Columbia

Contents Menu Riparian area

Prior to specific research on the effects of livestock grazing in riparian areas there is a need for compilation of existing information, reconnaissance of field situations, and a critical analysis of research priorities. This project provides this valuable step in the scientific process.

The general objective of this project is to develop a rational basis for research and extension on livestock management in riparian areas of the central-interior of BC.

Specific objectives include: review and compile existing information on livestock impacts on riparian ecosystems; develop and rank a list of riparian research topics relevant to the interior of BC with input from government, industry, first nations, and non-governmental agencies.
