Learning OrganizationKnowledge ManagementThe role of Knowledge Management is to create and foster an environment of knowledge sharing, collaboration and transfer in the Forest Service, as these are integral aspects of a true Learning Organization. With many people scheduled to retire from the organization over the next few years, knowledge capture is especially important to ensure that vital knowledge and experiential learning is not lost. Indeed, it is only through maximizing knowledge transfer and capture that the Forest Service can ensure continuously improved organizational performance over time. While knowledge capture and collaboration are part of the Forest Service culture, the overall intent is for the practice of knowledge management to become systematic and top-of-mind for employees in day-to-day business. |
