The purpose of the Initiation Phase is to achieve organizational commitment to a project that is to deliver a proposed system solution to meet a business need. This phase will produce a Project Charter for the proposed project. It will contain information relating to the project’s requirements and will enable the formalization and definition of the scope of the project. It is during this phase that the right-sizing determination is made.
