Definition
Quality Management is the management processes required to ensure the project will satisfy the needs for which it was undertaken. Quality management must address both the management of the project and the product of the project i.e. process and product.
Quality management planning defines and sets the appropriate standards and identifies the means by which these standards are to be met. It has two constituent components: one which is product-based and another which is process-based. Quality management planning for the product is focused on: technical planning, addressing issues of:
- fitness for use, and
- fitness for purpose,
- conformance to requirements, and
- customer satisfaction.
