Definition
The Impact Analysis assessment identifies all of the existing business areas, applications and database tables which are affected/impacted by the project implementation so that the appropriate Data and Application Custodians can be advised. It describes the nature and detail of the impact to ensure there is thorough analysis and that required changes to impacted systems can be planned. It confirms the required dependencies in the release schedule for the project to align impacted systems maintenance releases where required.
The template Impact Analysis Checklist is intended to assist in impact analysis from the early business change planning stage through to detailed application development and maintenance impact analysis.
It will assist business area staff and application development and maintenance project teams in planning for the impacts of business change and in determining scope and cost/benefit of changes.
This will help projects to have a clear understanding of possible impacts and communications needed to manage these impacts.
A project manager should use this checklist to confirm they have considered all types of impacts of their project at both a high level during initiation and planning, and at a detailed level during the analysis phase of the project.
