Biodiversity objectives for permanent range

Forest stand activities that may impact range biodiversity objectives include:

1. Old growth — (PNC) — maintain old growth characteristics

2. Potential harvest area — maintain open canopy; consider restocking at lower density

3. Area of forest encroachment — manage with precommercial thinning and prescribed fire to restore natural plant community

4. Riparian area — manage to maintain natural vegetation corridors of deep rooted riparian species

5. Grassland — manage for deep-rooted perennial grass species
