Streamlining Forest Information Project:
Next Steps

The fifteen Streamlining Business Proposals are being transferred to responsibility centres (a team or a branch) for implementation. A few of the proposals are already being implemented by the appropriate responsibility centre; see "status" below.

A Business Integration Group will be created to support responsibility centres in the development of guidelines, standards, procedures, system changes, and training to address the proposals.

More information about the implementation process will be posted to this page as soon as it becomes available.

Status

Business process maps have been developed for a number of Ministry of Forests business processes. These maps are available from the Business Information Centre (click on the "Business" link to access business process maps).

Cutblock Integration

The Forest Stewardship Plan (FSP) Tracking Project is developing business requirements for an FSP tracking system that will facilitate provincially consistent FSP administration and enable access to electronic FSP maps and text submitted via the Electronic Submission Framework (ESF). The FSP tracking project will include development of a simple electronic submission format.

Systems changes to allow bundling of the electronic appraisal submission with an electronic CP application and bundled RESULTS reporting are planned for February 2006.

Road Administration

The Road Administration proposals have been reviewed and validated by MoF engineering staff. Requirements gathering for systems enhancements is underway.

Information Access

A Forest Information Mall project has been initiated. Phase I will determine the business requirements for a one-stop shopping website, in consultation with a cross-section of users in government and industry. A rough "mock-up" of what this Information Mall might include is available here. Comments are invited, and can be submitted via the Streamlining Project Feedback page.

The FSP Information Support project is currently simplifying licensee access to the information critical for FSP preparation.

A provincial electronic activity notification process has been developed and is being implemented.
