1 Background
Once a planting prescription has been developed for an area this sets in motion a number of actions that end with the seedlings being successfully planted according to the prescription.
The planting contract should be designed to achieve the following goals:
- compliance with requirements of the SP,
- well planted seedlings,
- optimum microsite selection,
- even distribution and prescribed density of seedlings,
- maximum productive area planted,
- simple, efficient administration, and
- long term cost effectiveness.
There are several contract options in terms of the type, duration, and solicitation method for the ministry officer to follow. This section will briefly outline some of the contract options and procedures that are specifically related to planting. For more detailed information on contracting, see the chapter entitled "Contracts" in this manual and the Contract Administration Manual.
