A project focused on forest inventory activities in mountain pine beetle areas
is underway and scheduled for completion in Spring 2005.
The project is designed to identify the forest-cover information needs of
resource agencies, primarily the Ministry of Forests and the forest industry, in
mountain pine beetle infestation areas. The overall goal is developing a
comprehensive and high-level strategic plan that addresses both the short- and
long-term business requirements for inventory information.
The strategies must consider realistic expectations regarding timelines and
resource constraints (staff and funding).
