Program Reduces Wildfire Hazard Near Myra-Bellevue Park
KELOWNA – To mitigate the impacts of the provincial mountain pine beetle
infestation, a forest fuel and hazard tree management program is being

Planned Burns Reduce Wildfire Hazard
VERNON – As part of the continuing Silver Star Provincial Park Wildfire
Hazard Reduction Project, burns are required to reduce interface wildfire
threats to Silver Star Mountain Resort and the park’s recreation facilities
caused by the mountain pine beetle infestation in the southwest corner of
the park.

Forest Management in Okanagan Parks Protects Public
PENTICTON – BC Parks will be implementing a beetle-related forest management
project in Ellison Provincial Park commencing Jan. 15 and potentially
extending until the end of March 2007. Public access will be restricted
during this time to ensure public safety.

VICTORIA – BC Parks is authorizing the removal of approximately 1,400 yellow
(Ponderosa) pine trees infested with the western pine beetle in
Myra-Bellevue Provincial Park to reduce the spread of the beetle onto
adjacent lands near and within the City of Kelowna.
