Protecting Health and Safety
Accelerated harvesting to salvage dead timber increases the heavy truck
traffic on forest and public road networks. The infestation also impacts parks
and forest recreation facilities, and dead and dying trees in and near settled
areas can cause the forest fire hazard to become more severe. Work is underway
to ensure that appropriate services and programs are in place to maintain high
standards for worker and public health and safety.
