Partial Check on the Performance of TIPSY in Operational Stands

The stand growth model TIPSY, strongly influences silviculture programs in BC. Frequently, the selection of stand management regimes is based – in part – on TIPSY’s yield predictions. Even when TIPSY is not directly consulted, it is often influencing our treatment choices as much of our expectations about stand growth and response to treatment have been shaped by past exposure to the model.

Due to its critical importance to silviculture, it is essential that methods are developed to check on the performance of TIPSY in operational stands.
