The people of Integrated Resources Section facilitate the transformation of
government strategic direction on sustainable resource management into a
legislation and policy framework for the protection of key integrated resource
values, including biodiversity, wildlife, fish, water, and resource features. To
do so, we are arrayed in a number of inter-connected programs.
Many of us lead the delivery of an effective forest and range evaluation
program (FREP) to measure the success of the Forest and Range Practices Act,
its policy and standards in protecting both forestry and integrated resource
values, and to guide further policy changes.
Our section team includes technical and policy specialists in the fields of
forest practices legislation, hydrology and riparian area management, wildlife
habitat conservation, mountain pine beetle management, and stand-level
biodiversity. In addition, our section includes the ministry's experts in
research and development of biological (insect) agents for the management and
control of invasive plants.
We apply scientifically-sound analyses to inform Ministry and other
government decision-makers on integrated resource values, and to inform our own
communication and extension services. We co-operate and collaborate (often in
partnership) with other government agencies, the private sector and various
stakeholder groups, and use continuous improvement and adaptive management
principles to provide high quality service, advice and products to our clients.
