(1) - Diseases other than foliage diseases are very difficult to accurately map using aerial overview style surveys.  The totals presented here are not an accurate depiction of dwarf mistletoe and root disease incidence in the province.  More accurate data is obtained using ground surveys.

(2) - Two-year cycle budworm in most of north-central B.C. is considered to be on its "on" cycle in 1999 and has caused extensive defoliation.  However, it is "off-cycle" in the Robson Valley District, Prince George Forest Region for unknown reasons.

Aerial overview survey methods (FIDS-type) were used for the majority of the provincial coverage.  Other than three districts in the Vancouver Forest Region (Sunshine Coast, South Island, Campbell River) that were not flown due to a known lack of activity, the remaining coverage was supplied using operational data from parts of the following forest districts:  Cariboo Forest Region, Ft. St. James, Prince George, Vanderhoof, Mackenzie, Ft. Nelson, Cranbrook, Bulkley, Lakes, Morice, Kootenay Lake, and Arrow.
