Estimating the Number of Green Trees Within Suppression Beetle Management Units

Using the numbers of red trees is estimated using the data provided from the Provincial Aerial Overview Survey and processed using  the red estimation method, combined with an estimated Green: Red, an estimate of the numbers of green attack (brood containing) trees can be generated.

The total number of green  trees for each suppression BMU  is calculated using:

Total number of red trees x avg. Green:Red = Estimated number of green trees
