Map of the Summer 1999 Gypsy Moth Mass Trapping Area in Fairfield, Victoria, B.C.

The following map depicts the area that was mass trapped in the summer of 1999.

Over 2,000 traps were placed at 9 traps per acre (about 2 traps per average city lot).   Traps were collected in the fall of 1999.  No moths were caught.  Moth populations detected in 1998 may have either failed to reproduce or were attracted to the Fairfield monitoring traps from the large population in Esquimalt across the Inner Harbour.  Further treatment will not be required.
