Monitoring of Forest
Fertilization
FFT is planning a monitoring protocol that
- is systematic - random
- accounts for growth prior to fertilization
- accounts for differences among BEC (biogeoclimatic)
attributes
- requires an untreated area (either on the same polygon
or on another polygon with the same BEC attributes)
- accounts for growth after fertilization
- has statistical rigor
- relies on many small samples (plots) rather than many
large samples (plots)
- provides the first report in four but possibly three
years
- has a relatively low cost per data plot
The details are being developed by the Faculty of Forestry
at the University of Northern British Columbia.
