Abstract
Elk (Cervus elaphus roosevelti) management on Vancouver Island depends upon the protection or provision of important elk habitats through integrated forest management. Thus, knowledge about elk habitat needs and the impacts of intensive forest management practices on these needs is basic for effective integration of both resources. The present study was initiated in 1981 to provide this knowledge. The project is part of me Integrated Wildlife-Intensive Forestry Research (IWIFR) program.
