Abstract
The potential for maintaining and increasing elk (Cervus elaphus roosevelti) numbers on Vancouver Island is dependent on the provision of habitat requirements through intensive forest management. Management-oriented research on elk ecology and intensive forestry interactions is required to provide the biological information necessary for effective integrated resource management. This report outlines the progress made during the first half of the second year of work under the IWIFR elk project.
