Abstract

The major portion of this paper is a description of the implementation of British Colombia's Long-term Soil Productivity (LTSP) project (EP 1148). The project is based on a comprehensive model that will provide information about the relative effects of soil compaction and the removal of the site organic matter on tree growth. Detailed analysis of climate, soil physical and chemical properties, soil biology, litter decomposition, vegetation cover, and total site productivity provide information about the mechanisms of the effects.
