Abstract

Summer frosts can significantly affect the survival and growth of young forest plantations. As a result, guidelines for identifying frost-prone sites and for developing management practices to minimize the impact of summer frosts (FRDA project 3.65) were developed. It provides a means of assessing site-specific frost hazards in the Cariboo Forest Region and summarizes some management options for reducing the impacts of summer frost. This report includes both a main text and a field guide. The field guide is contained in the back pocket and includes reference tables which can be inserted into a standard field notebook. The field guide is designed only as a field reference and should not be used without familiarity with the contents of the main report. This report is related to FRDA report 73 and is a first approximation.
