There are many different software packages out there that will download and play podcasts for you. Below
are instructions for doing this with two of them, Ziepod and iTunes. If you
wish, you can use a different program, such as
Doppler or
Juice. All
the programs mentioned here are available for free.
Ziepod
- Note: If you are on a BC government
computer, use Ziepod (iTunes won't work). Also, you should first
install Ziepod to a folder in C:\Temp - after that you can move the Ziepod
folder wherever you want. Just click Ignore if it warns it can't install a
particular file - the program will still work.
- You can download Ziepod from this site
(or use this direct
download link).
- If you wish to add one of the podcasts from our podcasts page to
Ziepod, just click on the orange button (
),
and copy the subsequent URL. Then in Ziepod, go into the
"Subscriptions" section, click on "Add," and click
"Finish" (Ziepod automatically enters the URL that you just copied).
- Ziepod will not play video files; if you want to watch a video podcast,
you can use Ziepod to let you know when new videos are available, but you
will have to download the video files and play them in another program, such
as Windows Media Player or iTunes.
iTunes
- You can download iTunes
here.
- If you wish to add one of the podcasts from our podcasts page to iTunes,
either click on the iTunes button (
) to add it automatically, or click on
the orange button ( ),
and copy the subsequent URL. Then go to the "Advanced" menu in iTunes,
click on "Subscribe to Podcast,"
and paste the URL you just copied.
