| Description: |
Forest harvesting in BC is moving towards 'outcome' based management. New tools are needed to measure the effectiveness of forest practices and other land uses in meeting a range of goals, including sustaining aquatic ecosystems. A benthic macro-invertebrate (BI) sustainability indicator system that is part of a performance based toolbox to assess impacts on aquatic ecosystems from forest harvesting activities has been under development for 5 years in Skeena Region.
