The Ministry of Forests and Range Learning Centre provides access to a variety of learning and information
resources that may be useful in the management of BC’s forest and range resources. Types of resources include:
Web Based Training
Web based training courses reside on a server and can be accessed through the internet. Under this format,
there is no formal interaction with an instructor and users complete their training independently.
Scheduled Training
Courses and sessions are delivered either in an on-line classroom or in-person, in a traditional classroom setting.
Online classroom training provides a simulated classroom in real time to students who are geographically separated. This is accomplished through the web conferencing software LearnLinc.
Reference Material
These materials include manuals, student workbooks, guides, and handbooks that can be used as stand-alone
resources outside of formal classroom training. These are accessible through the Learning Store at any time.
Convention/Expo
Large scale, organized conferences and events providing learning opportunities to participants are classified
as conventions/expos. These events may include demonstrations, seminars, booths etc.
Other Learning Resources
Other organizations outside government also provide training relevant to MOFR staff. Links to a variety of these
organizations are available from this website on the Other Learning Resources webpage.
Supporting Tools
The Ministry also has various learning tools, such as software, which are available for purchase. Information on
obtaining these tools is provided under the resource description.
