Sustainable Resource Management Planning - Development of legal objectives at the landscape level to provide direction for forest managementIntroductionForest Investment Account funding recipients interested in undertaking Development of objectives at the landscape/watershed level, which will be in most cases a grouping of landscape units in some cases a single unit, are required under their recipient agreement with PricewaterhouseCoopers to adhere to standards established by government. The table below provides on-line access to those standards and related documents to enable recipients to plan such projects. Significant background work is necessary when developing a legal objective for forest management. Much of this background work can be accomplished through existing activities and associated standards within the LBIP. For key biodiversity objectives such as Old Growth Management Areas and Wildlife Tree Retention detailed direction on development of these objectives is provided in the Landscape Unit Planning Guide (LUPG). Direction on integration of objectives for different values and development of plans that span multiple landscape units is provided in the document Sustainable Resource Management A Landscape-Level Strategy for Resource Development. Development of legal objectives may show the need for background work. This background work will often be the same as is required for preparation of a criteria and indicators for sustainable forest management or for development of a sustainable forest management plan. Background work that is covered by an eligible activity under the LBIP but varies from the provided standards will require that a request be submitted to PricewaterhouseCoopers who will then forward that request for approval of the variance.
