Resource Inventories Activity Area Expectations

Expectations for this activity area are that:

  • the LBIR/SFM planning identifies inventory gaps or the need for updates, and projects should show clear linkages to these and other planning documents (e.g., Recovery Action Plans, LRMPs, TSR rationales);
  • Recipients will provide resource value interpretations of baseline and derived inventories, (e.g., wildlife habitat ratings of ecosystem mapping) that will be used for regular management decisions (e.g., TSR, hunting allocations);
  • data acquisition and management strategies will be developed in partnership with government;
  • Recipients will develop Strategic Inventory Planning documents (e.g., VSIPs/VPIPs) for joint sign-off with impacted ministries;
  • Recipients will provide inventory data and information in a format specified by the Custodian;
  • Recipients are encouraged to partner with government for the development of new Vegetation Resources Inventories;
  • all resource information gathered through the FIA must be consistent with government approved data content, quality and physical storage standards; and
  • all resource information gathered through the FIA will be provided to the Government for its operational systems or the Land and Resource Data Warehouse (LRDW).
