The Minister of Forests and Range has decision-making authority for Forest Investment
Programs. The Deputy Minister of Forests and Range has convened and chairs a Forest Investment
Council that meets quarterly. The role of the Forest Investment Council is to make
recommendations on all elements of Forest Investment programs, including objectives,
parameters, and standards, financial and performance monitoring and audits, and
funding allocations. The Council receives progress reports and audit results from
government and private-sector administrators and is responsible for determining
whether guidance or restrictions are necessary to ensure that investment choices
provide the greatest contribution to sustainable forest management across the Forest
Investment programs and within each program.
